? How can I package my parcel?

All items must be securely and sufficiently packaged to protect the contents. Your parcel will be handled several times by hand as it travels through our system. The item must be cushioned, protected, have suitable outer packaging and the corners protected. Here are some tips on how to correctly package your item. Alternatively you can watch the video! Alternatively, you can visit this page to learn more about packaging your parcel!

Find the proper size box for your delivery Boxes which are too small may be liable to puncture outward and boxes that are too large are likely to collapse if another parcel is placed on top of it during delivery. Choose a good quality box Look for double-walled boxes, especially for deliveries that contain fragile items.

Recycling packaging is encouraged; just make sure that the box isn't ripped or punctured before you use it.

Make use of cushioning items These include:bubble wrap, packing peanuts, foam, or even newspaper. Whatever you choose, make sure that it's enough to prevent any damage. Fragile items will require more careful packing.

Secure everything with packing tape Once you have the right box and packing material, it's simply a matter of taping it all up so it doesn't open during transport. Make sure that you use packing tape for this. Regular tape usually isn't strong enough to secure a parcel properly.

? Is my parcel insured?

Yes, you are covered by our limited liability for up to R1000 per parcel.

*Please refer to the Condition of Carriage for items not covered under the limited liability cover

? How will I know that my parcel has been received?

You'll receive a confirmation email which includes the sender and recipient details.

It also includes the label number(s) which you use to track your parcel.

? Will I recieve a tax invoice from my fastPOST agent?

? Do you deliver to postboxes?

No. All deliveries must have a valid street address for successful delivery.

? I have several parcels to go to the same address, how do I arrange this?

? When will my parcel be picked up and delivered?

Parcels are generally collected and delivered twice daily, Monday to Friday, and your parcel will be delivered as per our standard delivery schedule.

We're unable to provide a time-specific pick up or delivery service. Find the Courier Timetables on our Fastway website to view the times a courier should be in an area to collect/deliver a parcel.

? Can I arrange to have my parcel picked-up or delivered at a certain time?

Unfortunately, we're unable to pick up or deliver parcels at specific times. Generally this happens twice daily in the morning and afternoon, Monday to Friday.

? Must I pay for the local parcel I am receiving?

No, fastPOST will not ask a receiver for payments for local parcels, as we work on a prepaid system.

? How much does my parcel weigh?

You'll need to know your parcel’s actual weight and its volumetric weight, as the delivery rate is calculated on whichever is the greater.

So, how do you calculate the volumetric weight?

Grab the nearest calculator and follow these steps:

Multiply the height (cm) x width (cm) x length (cm) divided by the volumetric conversion factor (5000cc)

Example:
  • if a parcel size is:
  • Height: 50cm
  • Width: 30cm
  • Length: 50cm

Multiply the height x width x length divided by volumetric conversion (5000) to get volumetric weight.

from our example: (Height) 50cm x (Width) 30cm x (Length) 50cm = 75000 / 5000 = 15kgs

So, if the actual weight of this parcel was 5 kilograms and the volumetric weight was 15 kilograms, the greater weight of 15 kilograms is used to calculate the price.

? Must I pay for the international parcel I am receiving?

All destination fees are for the receiver's account and will paid by the recipient on delivery.
